Catherine Lenz serves as Director of Health Policy at The Picard Group. Prior to The Picard Group, Lenz served as Senior Health Policy Advisor for U.S. Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. She managed his health policy team, overseeing legislative projects and providing briefings on health policy issues. She also served as co-chair staff manager of the GOP Doctor’s Caucus – a caucus comprised of Members of Congress who are medical professionals, serving as a platform to elevate and educate Congress on relevant health policy issues.
Lenz worked extensively on policy efforts involving state Medicaid infrastructure, Medicare physician payment, and pandemic preparedness and relief during Congressman Burgess' tenure as Health Subcommittee chairman. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as a liaison between the office and federal agencies. She worked closely with the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee and drafted witness questions, amendments, and wrote opening statements and talking points for Committee hearings and legislative markups.
Prior to working for Congressman Burgess, Lenz served as Health Legislative Assistant for U.S. Congressman Tom Emmer, where she focused on biomedical technology policy and also worked on issues such as education, housing, judiciary, and oversight and government reform. Lenz also launched the Caucus on Personalized Medicine to explore ways Congress could support this area of medicine through legislation and education.
Lenz resides in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government with a minor in Economics.
