Tré Nelson serves as Deputy Director of Health Policy at The Picard Group. He brings over half a decade of health care administrative leadership experience and specializes in advancing economic development, fostering strategic partnerships, and navigating complex public policy. Prior to joining The Picard Group, he led economic development initiatives at Ochsner Health as the Director of Economic Development and Community Initiatives, spearheading efforts to expand healthcare access, establish new facilities, and create educational pipelines to enhance workforce development.
Previously, Nelson managed government relations and strategic business initiatives at Baton Rouge General Health System, securing investments to support new service lines and coordinating with federal agencies to reopen vital emergency services. His early career included roles in legislative affairs, where he engaged with state and federal leaders to advocate for economic growth policies.
Nelson was a key player in opening numerous health care facilities and played a pivotal role in launching Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery, a PreK-5th Grade Charter School. His dedication to community involvement includes serving on multiple nonprofit boards and leading professional organizations. Nelson serves on the River Parishes Community College Foundation Board and Northwestern State University Foundation Board of Directors. He has been recognized as a 2022 Baton Rouge Top 40 Under 40 honoree by the Baton Rouge Business Report and one of the 100 Most Influential Black Men in Baton Rouge by the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce. He is also certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Corporate Citizenship Manager.
Nelson earned his MBA from Louisiana State University Shreveport and holds a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Northwestern State University.
A Louisiana native, Nelson currently resides in Maryland.
